Driving Up Quality

Following the shocking abuse of people with learning disabilities at Winterbourne View, the government and many other organisations like Access Community Services Ltd are taking action to make sure that this never happens again.
We and many other providers have made a commitment to listen to the people we support and support them to build lives that have meaning for them. 
The Driving up Quality Code sets out five key standards:

  1. Support is focused on the person

  2. The person is supported to have an ordinary and meaningful life

  3. Care and support focuses on people being happy and having a good quality of life

  4. A good culture is important to the organisation

  5. Managers and board members lead and run the organisation well.

Managing director

John Walters

John has worked within social care for a number of years, and had previously worked within the NHS, he has owned Access Community Services since 1999 when the company provided services to 12 individuals with a range of needs.  John has managed the growth of the company which now provides support services to 100+ individuals and employs 150+ staff

Judith Dickinson

Judith joined Access Community Services in 1994 and has been the Registered Manager since 2007. Judith has worked within the Health and Social Care industry for over 20 years.  Her experience is wide and varied; she has worked within the NHS, Sefton Council, Day Services for adults with learning disabilities and with elderly care.

Community Manager

Phil Jones

Phil has worked for Access Community Services since 1999. His main responsibilities include managing the Community Outreach department, liaising closely with service users and their families on a daily basis. Phil manages the packages of 50+ community service users, setting up new packages and attending reviews. He works closely with Social Services, Community Nurses and other agencies offering a personal, caring approach to ensure the service users maximise their potential through outcome based support.

Sue Fulton

Sue joined the organisation in 2004 and has been part of the management team since 2009.  Sue has undertaken various development roles within the company.

Steve Booth

Steve joined Access Community Services in early 2014 as Health and Safety Manager. Steve has worked in both the public and private sector for many years and has overall responsibility for Health and Safety, maintaining the Access fleet of vehicles, and is currently working with public and private sector partners and stakeholders on various projects, to encourage greater participation in the community for service users

Carol Williams

Carol has worked for Access Community Services since 2009. Her main duties are Office Management and company finance. She is responsible for company accounts, payroll, pension’s administration and H.R Services.

Rachel Jones

Rachel has worked for Access Community Services since 2009 as a part time administrator. Her main duties include organising the community rota, covering shifts and liaising with staff, service users and their families.

Training manager

Bethaney Loxton

Beth joined the company in 2016 as an administrator. She has since gone on to take over the training company and provides the in house training to the staff, alongside the induction process. She also liases with the local colleges to organise our staff completing their Care Certificate and NVQs.

Annie MacDougall

Annie joined the team in November 2016. She deals with the HR administration, organising contracts and aiding to cover shifts when needed.

Julie Morley

Julie joined the company at the end of 2016. She works primarily on the Tagtronics system, inputting the time sheets and master rotas.

Dee Fitzsimmons

Dee has recently joined the company as of May 2018. She is still learning the ropes but is proving to be a valuable asset to the team. She has been brought on board to assist in the general running and every day occurances of the administration team.
