Access Community Services has been in existence for over 20 years providing outstanding domiciliary care and support in the community and supported living tenancies.

Our aim is to deliver services that are person centred and developed around your individual needs. We recruit and train suitable support staff to assist you with tasks that you have difficulty with or carry them out for you if you are unable. We will respect your rights and dignity and promote your independence at all times. We believe in a highly skilled and motivated workforce which has helped us gain our Investors in People accreditation.

To ensure that we provide the right service for you, we need to get to know you better. We do this by conducting an initial assessment, asking you and the people close to you questions. These may be about your likes and dislikes, your health needs and personality. By asking these questions we can try and match you with staff who have the skills to meet your emotional, physical and health needs.

The company is owned by John Walters who has worked in the health sector for a number of years. The Registered Manager is Judith Dickinson who has worked in the Health and Social Care industry for over 15 years working within the NHS, Sefton Council's Day Services for adults with learning difficulties and elderly care. The Community Manager is Phil Jones who has worked within the Health and Social Care industry for 15+ years. His experience varies from working with adults with learning difficulties, mental health and working on the Community team.

Access Community Services employs over 130 members of staff and currently provides services for over 100 people throughout Sefton and West Lancashire. We are an Investors in People accredited organisation demonstrating our commitment to the training & development of our staff.

supported living

Our teams provide support to enable people who have their own tenancies to live as independently as possible.

The services we provide are individually tailored and are designed to build communities and a support framework to enable people to lead active and fulfilling lives.

Our staff are fully trained and qualified to support and assist in such areas as:

  • Personal care

  • Budgeting

  • Shopping

  • Household tasks

  • Travel training

  • Accessing healthcare

  • Accessing employment opportunities

  • Accessing information to promote personal welfare and decision making

  • Advocacy, benefits advice, housing advice

  • Complaints, procedures and counselling

  • Maintaining friendships and relationships

  • Increasing social networks

  • Using leisure, educational and community facilities

  • Learning new things

  • Developing new interests

  • Taking part in local community events

We work in partnership with regional housing providers to identify and source properties based on individual requirements.

We take referrals from social services and people who have chosen self directed support via individual and personal budgets or direct payments. We can also help you manage your budget in a way that best meets your requirements. We work closely with individuals, families and local authorities to find appropriate ways to support people to maximise opportunities within their budget.

Our support workers will visit at agreed times to meet the service user’s needs. The frequency of these visits are tailored to requirements.

 

in the community

Our community staff are experienced in offering a wide range of services to meet the individuals needs. We have a drop-in centre available, with a pool table, TV, DVD player, computers and fully working kitchen. Planned events and activities are regularly held, helping to create positive relationships and social inclusion.

Our staff have access to a fleet of adapted vehicles, including a fully accessible mini bus. The vehicles are used for a variety of reasons, including taking clients on planned activities.

We offer a 24 hour on-call service for any emergencies outside of office hours. Our highly trained and dedicated staff are able to confidently deal with any issues that may arise.

Along with the drop-in centre, we offer various activities including:

  • Arts & crafts

  • Hair and beauty

  • An allotment (where service users can help grow their own vegetables)

 

Training

Our training, where applicable, is provided in house by our training team, Access Training Ltd. We provide our staff with a range of core subjects as regulated by CQC and often offer extra training to expand  their knowledge and skills.
